Job Description

Workman Kids is searching for a Marketing & Publicity Assistant to provide support for our NY-based Marketing & Publicity team. Reporting to the Associate Publisher/Head of Marketing/Publicity, this is an integral role that works across teams and provides insight into how these key departments bring our books to market! We are looking for someone who is innovative, creative, and detail orientated as well as being passionate about children’s book publishing!  

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Seasonal management of core materials such as marketing plans, pitch & press release tracking, seasonal project management tracking grid, and more
  • Primary budget and invoice management in collaboration with the AP
  • Copywriting and design work for projects such as social assets, PR materials, ads, displays, activity kits, and more
  • Overseeing updates to the Workman Kids website and social media content calendar
  • 3rd Party Partnership outreach & coordination
  • Spearhead the seasonal mailing & ambassadors programs
  • Interact professionally with authors and agents, as well as internal departments within WK and HBG, including design, editorial, production, and sales.
  • Coordinate with small list of advertising vendors from booking through asset submission
  • Research book sales and comp titles using internal and external databases.
  • Keep up-to-date promotional and brand grids
  • Perform administrative duties, including: scheduling, handling mail, preparing packages for shipment, directing/responding to inquiries, misc. research projects, etc.

  • Knowledge and enthusiasm for pop culture and trends in children’s marketplace.
  • Meets deadlines and can manage time effectively with good follow-up and follow-through.
  • Excellent administrative skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills, able to work with colleagues at every level of seniority.
  • Highly organized, capable of multi-tasking.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Self-directed and able to work independently to achieve goals.
  • Comfortable using email, calendar management, and file management tools.
  • Familiar with Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel or other like tools.

The compensation for this position is $47,500. Salary can vary based on a number of factors including skills, experience, and location — talk with your recruiter to learn more. There may be times that you will be required (or requested) to work overtime due to the nature of your role or exceptional workload issues or special projects.
