About Us

The Buyer position will be responsibility for managing the in-bound supply chain for assigned commodities. This includes placing purchase orders, follow-up with suppliers on late deliveries, managing exception messages as pull-in/push-out triggered from Material Requirements Planning system, and keeping inventory liability to a minimum. The Buyer will manage a range of commodities as assigned which could include PCB’s, electromechanical and electronic components used in the manufacturing of Power Supplies.

About the Role:

• To place Purchase Orders driven per MRP system as Computer Plan Order (Requisitions)
• To manage a medium range of commodities such as Connectors, Shipping boxes, ferrite material and/or the electronic components
• Manage open purchase orders to ensure that suppliers deliver parts on time, based on their promise commitment.
• Maintain data on a real-time basis and ensure its accuracy so that it can be used to make customer commitments.
• Ensure the lowest possible cost in the market by negotiating pricing using approved suppliers.
• Follow-through on Purchase orders’ confirmations.
• Work on exception messages such as pushouts, pull-ins, and cancellations to meet new requirements
• Work with Accounting to resolve invoice discrepancies,
• Work with the receiving clerk to resolve shipping issues
• Work with suppliers to obtain RMA the return for credit and/or replacement for non-conforming material
• Generate Request for Quotations, followed by cost analysis to present the lowest total cost of ownership.
• Escalate supply chain issues with suppliers’ management to receive support production.

What You Need:

• Strong mathematical aptitude for calculating figures and amounts such as discounts, total cost, and percentages.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret department procedures or technical procedures.
• Strong communication skills.
• Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
• Interpret various instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Must demonstrate knowledge of the ERP/MRP systems and their workings.
• Negotiation skills exhibit collaborative and creative approaches.
• Interpersonal skills with the ability to influence with minimal use of authority.
• Analytical skills and use of Excel spreadsheets a plus
• General knowledge of electronic components used in the assembly of Printed Circuit Boards
• An ability to adapt to multiple software systems quickly and efficiently.

Education/Certifications:

Bachelor’s degree or at least (5) five years of experience in the Electronics industry preferred

Professional Certifications such as APICS a plus.

Our good faith estimate of the salary range for this role is $80,000 to $108,000. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and other factors. In addition to base pay, we offer a highly competitive benefits package.

This position offers a hybrid work model, blending remote flexibility with required in-office days for optimal collaboration and productivity at Spellman High Voltage headquarters in Hauppauge, NY.
