Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated  Structural Engineering Department Manager to join our B+P Business Line in our Arlington, VA office. This position will oversee vertical structural design technical work, monitor staffing and provide business development assistance. Experience with federal agencies is highly desired.

• Oversee hiring, monitor staffing and conduct performance evaluations
• Lead the staff by offering technical guidance
• Mentor staff to facilitate career development
• Manage multiple design projects from inception to completion, ranging in contract value and complexity
• Advise project teams on technical issues, perform deliverable quality reviews, report on project status, and deliver design on schedule and within budget
• Coordinate design elements with other task leaders and/or group managers
• Lead, monitor and review design deliverables such as calculations, reports, models, construction cost estimates, construction drawings and specifications
• Develop scopes of work and price proposals
• Verify software usage for efficient design and coordination
• Participate in project negotiations with clients
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships through performance, service and effective communication
• Manage complex technical work independently while mentoring and guiding less experienced team members
• Participate in regional structural engineering meetings and effectively communicate workload requirements to the Engineering Manager and manage resources on projects
• Enhance client relationships

Qualifications

Minimum

Qualifications

• BS Degree in Structural Engineering or similar field plus eight (8) years of related experience overseeing vertical structural design technical work or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
• U.S. Citizenship is required for this position
• Professional Engineering (P.E.) license

Preferred

Qualifications

• Project management experience
• Professional experience using standard industry Structural Engineering software?
• Professional experience working on Federal Government projects
• Ten (10) years of professional Structural Engineering experience
