Position overview

Delta Utilities is seeking a highly motivated senior IT support specialist to play a crucial role in implementing and maintaining Delta Utilities’ technology infrastructure. This position will provide technical assistance to end-users, ensuring smooth operation and resolution of any issues with hardware, software, cloud, and network systems. It is a full-time position based in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical support by responding to user inquiries via phone, email, or in person
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve user access issues, hardware and software problems, cyber security incidents, and cloud technology issues
• Install, configure, and upgrade computer systems, peripherals, software, and cloud-based applications.
• Guide best practices for using technology effectively
• Track requests, issues, and activities using a ticketing system; provide status of ticket and issue resolution to users and management
• Monitor network performance and address connectivity issues; set up and manage network devices (routers, switches, firewalls)
• Set up and manage secure connections with the company’s cloud providers and work with vendors to troubleshoot and resolve connectivity and access issues
• Ensure data security and compliance with company policies
• Install, update, and maintain operating systems and software applications
• Assist users with software installations, license management, and troubleshooting software compatibility issues
• Work with cloud providers and SaaS vendors to troubleshoot and support users in accessing the software
• Repair or replace faulty hardware components (e.g., RAM, hard drives, motherboards), maintain inventory of hardware assets, and coordinate with vendors for warranty repairs
• Conduct training sessions for employees on technology usage and educate users on cybersecurity best practices
• Assist with the development of the company’s IT policies and procedures
• Create and update user manuals and documentation
• Implement security protocols (firewalls, antivirus software, encryption) and monitor for security breaches, ensuring backup critical data and disaster recovery plans are in place
• Participate in IT projects and technology implementations and upgrades
• Stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies
• Coordinate with remote support teams

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Minimum of five to ten years of experience in IT support, IT support engineering, or similar field 
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Familiarity with Windows, mobile (iOS/Android), and Linux operating systems
• Knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and basic networking concepts
• Knowledge of Microsoft O365 and related products and services
• Ability to obtain relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, Microsoft Certifications, Microsoft Azure Fundamentals)
• Ability to perform occasional travel as needed

In 2023, Entergy announced that it had entered into an agreement with Delta Utilities to sell its Louisiana gas distribution business. The natural gas utility currently serves more than 200,000 customers across East Baton Rouge and Orleans parishes. In February 2024, Delta Utilities entered into an agreement with CenterPoint Energy to acquire its Louisiana and Mississippi natural gas businesses, which currently serve approximately 381,000 customers. Once the transactions are complete, Entergy's Louisiana natural gas operations and CenterPoint Energy's Louisiana and Mississippi natural gas systems will be operated by Delta Utilities.
