Are you an experienced game designer with a passion for creating engaging player experiences in the mobile gaming industry? We’re seeking a Senior Designer to lead the development of 9 mini-games and enhance the First-Time User Experience (FTUE) for the Western version of a popular Civilization project. This role is crucial for driving player retention, engagement, and overall satisfaction in a free-to-play (F2P) environment.

About the Role:

As the Senior Game Designer, you will be responsible for crafting seamless FTUE and onboarding experiences tailored to Western audiences. Your work will involve designing thematic mini-games, collaborating closely with a European-based team, and leveraging your deep understanding of strategy game mechanics to influence key performance indicators (KPIs).

Key Responsibilities:

• FTUE & Onboarding Design: Lead the design and optimisation of the FTUE and onboarding process, ensuring smooth player progression and high retention rates.
• Mini-Game Development: Conceptualise and design 9 engaging mini-games that align with the core gameplay of the Civilization project.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the European team, maintaining daily collaboration to ensure synchronisation of design efforts. Availability during European working hours is essential.
• Metric Analysis: Monitor and analyse game metrics such as user retention, engagement, and conversion rates to guide design decisions and improve player experience.
• Strategy Game Expertise: Apply your knowledge of strategy game mechanics to create compelling design elements that resonate with the target audience.
• F2P Monetisation: Drive monetisation strategies in the F2P mobile space, ensuring they enhance player satisfaction and engagement.
• User Feedback Integration: Incorporate feedback from players and stakeholders to refine the FTUE and onboarding process for the Western market.
• Documentation & Communication: Create and maintain detailed design documentation, clearly communicating concepts, progress, and updates to the development team and stakeholders.

Qualifications:

• Experience: Proven track record in designing and delivering successful FTUE and onboarding experiences for F2P mobile titles.
• F2P & KPI Focus: Deep understanding of F2P mobile game design principles and experience influencing game KPIs.
• Strategy Game Knowledge: Expertise in strategy game design, particularly in creating scalable and engaging mechanics.
• Collaboration: Strong collaboration skills, with experience working across cross-functional and geographically distributed teams.
• Location: Preferably based in Europe to ensure full availability during European working hours.
• Communication Skills: Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to clearly articulate complex design concepts.
• Adaptability: Ability to adapt design strategies based on user feedback, cultural differences, and regional preferences.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Cultural Adaptation: Experience in adapting game content for different cultural markets, especially Western audiences.
• Technical Skills: Familiarity with game development tools such as Unreal Engine.
• Project Management: Experience in managing or leading design projects from concept to completion, with a proven ability to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality work.
