About the job: Kent is looking for a Senior Engineer II - Instrumentation to be based in the Greater Chicago area.
Skills and Responsibilities: - Experience in I&C engineering & design for new plants and modifications/replacements of existing equipment in process plants for projects in various phases such as conceptual studies, Front End Engineering Design (FEED), detailed design (EPC) project.
- Assigned as Owner's engineer to review the work performed by other EPCs, and work proactively with the Owner's team and EPC to ensure the project objectives are met efficiently.
- Manage assigned work effectively, including prioritizing, executing, managing schedule and budget, and reporting to meet project goals/targets.
- Establishing the scope of work, effort hour estimates and deliverable lists.
- Review of instrument index, I/O list, I/O assignment, equipment list, alarm rationalization list.
- Review of instrument loop diagrams, wiring drawings, instrument location plans, installation details, and Fire and Gas (F&G) location plans.
- Review instrument selection, specification, and inline device sizing calculations.
- Review instrument specifications and datasheets
- Review BOMs / MTOs.
- Review cable schedules, cabinets and JBs design etc.
- Participating in design reviews, HAZOPs, LOPA and SIL.
- Reviewing project documents for scope, presentation, and technical accuracy.
- Review MRQ/MRP packages, and TBE for field instruments, analyzers, and system cabinets.
- Review Control Narratives and Cause and Effect diagrams.
- Review vendor designs for compliance with technical specifications and applicable standards.
- Review engineering work packages or Construction work packages.
- Attend project team meetings, Client meetings & vendor review meetings.
- Establish a good working relationship with our client.
- Perform field visits to validate existing drawings and confirm tie-in locations.
- Review designs for constructability and accordance with project requirements.
- Demonstrate a high regard for safety, quality and environmental policies and procedures.
- Other duties as required.

These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.
Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience: Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification: - Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Intrumentation and Control.
- Valid Illinois P.E. preferred.
- 10+ years of Instrumentation and control experience in the Oil & Gas industry.
- Strong client focus and ability to represent the company professionally.
- Knowledge of Instrumentation: in-line, tapped, relief, and basic.
- Knowledge of DCS and PLC control systems.
- Knowledge of some or all of the following codes and standards: PIP, ISA, IEC, NEMA, CSA, OSHA, API, ASME, ANSI, NFPA, NEC.
- Field experience at plant sites and of safety procedures.
- Experience with I&C Package reviews.
- Experience with multidiscipline reviews: P&IDs, ISOs, Electrical and Mechanical Packages.
- Familiarity with safety systems is a plus (i.e. HAZOPs, HAZIDs, LOPAs and SIL Verifications).
- Familiarity with analyzers, shelters, and gas detectors is a plus.
- Experience with vendor calculation software, SPI, and Instrucalc or Conval.
- Experience with Engineering Manhour Estimate tool(s).
- Additional software experience includes Microsoft Office, CAD, and 3D modelling viewer.
Communication: - Effective communication skills (written and verbal).

- Must be able to work under pressure to meet deadlines .
