Position Purpose:
All KHI employees are expected to perform their respective tasks and duties in such a way that supports KHI’s vision to be among the kindest, highest quality health systems in the country.
This position is responsible for the protection, safeguarding and security of assets, personnel, customers, and all visitors.
Key Responsibilities (List of material responsibilities and essentials duties which must be completed in achieving the objectives of the position)
· Secures premises and personnel by patrolling interior and exterior of all KHI owned property; monitoring surveillance equipment; inspecting buildings, equipment, and access points; permitting entry.
· Demonstrates advanced customer relations skills with patients, visitors, medical staff, employees, peers and administration.
· Conducts physical security and safety surveys.
· Prepares daily activity reports and forms including security inventory, including patient valuables, and equipment condition.
· Investigates and prepares reports relating to losses, incidents, occurrences, lost and found and violations of KHI regulations, policies, and procedures.
· Responds to internal emergencies such as fires, disasters, and other hospital emergencies.
· Enforces and utilizes knowledge of established policies, procedures, and practices.
· Serves as a liaison with local law enforcement, fire, and other agencies as it relates to KHI Security team and or hospital personnel.
· Identifies and resolves security / safety related problems.
· Provides security / safety in-services to staff and others as assigned.
· Complies with federal, state, and local regulations and exercises good judgment in the course of carrying out overall responsibilities and other activities as assigned.
· Provides support to the Plant Operations department to ensure the safety and comfort of patients.
1. Operates plant utilities in the absences of Plant Operations staff and is aware of all utility’s emergency procedures.
2. Completes reoccurring work orders assigned from Plant Operations.
· Performs other duties, assignments, activities and responsibilities as assigned.
· May require travel to Hualapai Mountain Campus, SHMP Building, Mountain Shadow Building, or other KHI properties:
1. Responds to alarms.
2. Courier duties.
3. Other driving duties as assigned.
· Performs employee badge provisioning duties as assigned
Qualifications (Statements regarding minimum educational and experience qualifications, required proficiencies with specialized knowledge, computer proficiencies, military service, required certifications, etc.)
Education: High school diploma or equivalent or college level degree. Certification/Licensure: · Possession of a current and valid U.S. motor vehicle license. · De-escalation techniques training required within 90 days of hire. Knowledge and Skills: · Knowledge of standard security and safety protocols. · Ability to communicate well with others. · Ability to demonstrate planning and organizational skills. · Basic computer skills necessary for reporting and communications. · Ability to operate the surveillance system. · Ability to work varied assigned shifts. · Ability to work with and deescalate adverse and confrontational situations. |
Preferences (Preferred attributes for the position which are not absolutely required in the minimum qualifications (i.e., multi-lingual, master’s degree))
Experience: · Prior private security or public law enforcement experience. · Hospital security experience. Certification/Licensure : · Arizona security officer card. · International Association of Healthcare Security Certification and/or Safety as a Certified Healthcare Security Officer. |

· Must be able to stand and walk for 60% to 70% of the time; must be able to sit 30% to 40% of the time; must be able to run. · Must be able to distinguish phone rings and callers’ voices against regular background noise and conversation. · Occasionally bends, stoops, kneels, climbs, and descends ramps, stairs, ladders and reaches in the daily functions of duties. · Must be able to lift 40 to 50 pounds. |
