The Department of Medicine (DoM) is the largest department within the UCSD School of Medicine (SoM) and is responsible for fulfilling its teaching, research, and clinical missions. Under the supervision of the leadership of the MrOS Study, the Research Assistant will be responsible to support the daily operations and participant outreach associated with the study. Specific responsibilities include preparation of tri-annual questionnaire mailing, data entry, questionnaire follow-up by phone and email, and administrative assistance to maintain participant databases and complete study endpoint reports. Other duties assigned as needed.
Ability to keep organized, accurate records and computer files.
Experience using database and word processing programs.
Demonstrated excellent communication skills, particularly on the phone and with an older adult population, individuals of varying fitness levels, educational, and race/ethnicity backgrounds.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, in a professional manner at all times, and to demonstrate tact, diplomacy, patience, and good judgment while interacting with people.
Strong attention to detail, ability to follow protocols after training, and discretion.
Ability to work independently, anticipate needs, identify problems and recommend course of action for resolution, and to take initiative and implement appropriate action to achieve successful completion of tasks.
Ability to operate standard office equipment (e.g, copier, printer, fax machine).
Ability to organize and perform tasks. Prioritize work load as determined by the flow of data.
Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.
Health screening and/or proof of TB test and immunizations required.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $44,349 - $56,501 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $21.24 - $27.06
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
