This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite at La Jolla and remote.

DESCRIPTION

The Division of Medical Education within the UC San Diego School of Medicine (UCSD SOM) consists of four major units: Admissions & Student Affairs; Undergraduate Medical Education; Graduate Medical Education; and Continuing Medical Education & Faculty Development. These units are supported by core services units: Business Affairs, Educational Technology, and Evaluation & Assessment. The division supports the education, training and co-curricular activities of 540 medical students, 900 + residents and fellows, as well as the faculty, physician and healthcare providers at UCSD’s School of Medicine, its' Medical Centers, and affiliates. The Division additionally houses the Physician Assistant Education Program as well as several large Health Sciences Graduate Programs and the Medical Student Training Program, as well as the Center for Investigations of Health and Education Disparities (CIHED).

The incumbent will complete special projects related to the clinical curriculum in the Office of Undergraduate Medical Education (UGME) at UC San Diego School of Medicine (SOM), fully analyzing issues and problems, gathering data and information, finding and evaluating alternatives, and making sound recommendations.

The Project Policy Analyst will help coordinate and manage the visiting student program for rotating medical students. This includes overseeing application processes, managing student placements, liaising with departments to ensure a smooth experience for visiting students and addressing any issues that arise during their rotations.

In addition, the analyst will coordinate the Principles to Practice course for fourth-year medical students. Responsibilities include scheduling, managing course materials, collaborating with faculty and ensuring that the course objectives are met. The incumbent will also provide support to students and faculty, ensuring the course runs smoothly and meets educational goals.

This position may provide back-up support to other areas within the curriculum team, as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Four years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor’s degree in related area.

  • Working knowledge of common organization- or research-specific and other computer application programs.

  • Proficient in communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

  • Proficient in ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality.

  • Demonstrates ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns.

  • Demonstrates ability to analyze, research and synthesize large amounts of data with strong attention to detail.

  • Proficient in ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.

  • Working knowledge of applicable policy analysis techniques. Broad knowledge of campus, medical center, and university policies and processes.

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with expertise in developing strategies for resolving situations and recommending action for desired results.

  • Demonstrated ability to work as an effective team member with various external health care providers and institutions.

  • Proficient in ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes. Ability to lead or support multiple projects or protocols simultaneously, with wide variety of investigators and administrative stakeholders.

  • Ability to interpret, recommend, and implement academic policies and regulations.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $58,600 - $100,800 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $28.07 - $48.28

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
