Job Description

Job Overview:

The Patient Escort in the Cancer Center department will be responsible for greeting patients, family members, representatives, and other visitors upon their visit.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High School Diploma

Preferred:

  • Previous experience in a health care setting
  • Customer Service experience, front desk experience, and computer skills

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Monday-Friday12:00pm-5:30pm with flexibility of start/end time
  • Flexibility needed as some patients end infusion after 5:30pm

Essential Functions:

  • Review patient appointment schedule everyday from AMPFM and Aria to determine the patients that have Radiation and Medical Oncology appointments scheduled
  • Escort patient and family members that have multiple appointments within the cancer center to the appropriate patient service area based on their appointment schedule
  • Provide assistance for those patients who require such upon entering the Cancer Center (i.e. provide wheelchair if necessary)
  • Assist the Patient Service Representative with scheduling appointments for follow up visits, treatments, outpatient procedures and hospital admissions for patients
  • Facilitate patient care by providing information of physician schedule wait times or changes and offer service recovery in a timely manner as needed
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the organization s services and standards and incorporates them into the performance of his/or her duties
  • May perform other duties, as assigned
  • Possesses the ability to have professional demeanor at all times with employees and visitors and to handle more than one specific duty at a time. Interruptions are frequent and the ability to maintain composure and focus on an assignment can be a challenge
  • In emergent situations, must be able to make decisions that will solve the immediate problem while trying to solve the larger problem in an efficient and effective manner
