Job Description

The Pathways Fellowship is a paid 13-month training program for people from historically underrepresented and diverse backgrounds interested in starting a career in public health. Pathways Fellows will work at California local health department host sites in a variety of roles where they will improve their public health skills and deliver culturally competent services to the local community. Foundational training will be provided and will focus on the entry-level skills necessary for California's public health workforce. Ongoing continuing education and professional development will continue through the end of the program. People with a high school diploma/GED + 4 years work experience, OR an Associate's degree + 2 years work experience, OR a Bachelor's degree, are strongly encouraged to apply.

Note: This is a 13-month contract, starting March 17, 2025, with an hourly rate of $27.83, non-negotiable.

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid- point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.

For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.
