JOB DESCRIPTION:

 

Title: MSA

 

Position Category: Hourly/Non-exempt

 

Supervisor: Site Operations manager

 

Position Description: The MSA performs a variety of administrative and clinical duties to support high-quality patient care and the medical department team. The MSA answers all calls directed to the medical department and lab, maintains accurate patient medical records, and assists other team members as necessary.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Answers and manages all calls directed to the medical department and lab in a timely manner. Demonstrates clear, concise, and accurate documentation of the call in the EHR.
  • Performs assistive clinical tasks such as completing prior authorizations for medications, abstracting historical medical records into the EHR, and other tasks (within scope) as deemed necessary.
  • Manages a variety of patient panels as directed by leadership staff to ensure quality measures or process improvement measures are monitored and met in a timely manner.
  • Opens and processes USPS mail for the medical department and lab. Ensures any medical records received by mail are scanned into the patient's EHR.
  • Cross-coverage training will be provided and duties may include limited duties in rooming patients such as obtaining VS and updating the med list and asking if the patient has concerns, managing pending referrals, or assisting with medical records tasks.
  • Assists the provider in the accomplishment of other clerical tasks as requested.Completes educational or training requirements as required. Attends all meetings as required.
  • Perform Covid-19/influenza/strep POC tests. Various other duties that may arise to ensure the organization stays focused on excellent patient care.
  • Adheres to all EHC Policies and Procedures.

 

Minimum Entrance Requirements:

  • Current CMA/RMA or CNA credentials.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Minimum, one year of working experience in the medical field. Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills, and strong public relations skills.
  • Ability to multitask and problem-solve.
  • Proficient typing computer skills and basic knowledge of computer use.
  • Experience with Electronic Health Records preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Lift/carry 10-25 lbs., walking/standing/bending/kneeling/squatting; Ability to assist patients on and off exam table/chairs; visual acuity, eye-hand coordination, speaking and hearing; ability to use interfaced communication devices.
