  • Build and maintain deep relationships with media and manage inbound requests, particularly those involving high-stakes issues.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Research, Legal, Product, and other teams at OpenAI to ensure alignment on communications.

We’re looking for a blend of qualifications, including:

  • 10+ years of professional PR and media relations experience, with a strong emphasis on corporate and/or crisis communications; in-house experience is a plus.

  • Exceptional ability to translate complex, technical information into clear, persuasive, and accessible content for external audiences.

  • Experience working closely with legal teams on communications related to corporate and litigation issues.

  • Familiarity with AI technologies or a strong personal interest in the field of artificial intelligence.

  • Proven success in building relationships and collaborating with press, executives, partners, and other stakeholders.

You’ll thrive in this role if:

  • You are passionate about contributing to a mission that emphasizes ethical considerations in AI.

  • Building and maintaining relationships are your forte.

  • You are eager to craft and share stories about technology that will have significant global impact.

  • You seek and are comfortable managing high-profile, complex stories under tight deadlines.

  • Educating general audiences about technical subjects is something you excel at.

  • You excel in both strategy and tactical execution.
