Overall Objectives of Position The Sales and Marketing Manager is responsible for planning, directing and managing the sales and marketing operations of Perdido River Farms (PRF). This entails leading the lead generation efforts for the beef and pork products produced by the PRF Meat Processing Plant. The incumbent will have accountability for creating all sales plans to achieve top line sales goals through both retail and wholesale channels. The Sales and Marketing Manager will determine to “go to market” and distribution strategy for PRF, reporting directly to the General Manager. Additionally, this role has direct oversight and responsibility for the PRF retail outlet to include staffing, training and engagement of all assigned personnel. This role occupies an important seat on the PRF leadership team and will regularly engage in strategy and operational decisions above and beyond the sales, marketing, and retail responsibilities. The Sales and Marketing Manager is expected to perform all duties and responsibilities necessary to meet the goal and objectives of applicable programs.
The Sales and Marketing Manager is expected to live the Purpose and Values of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians and will go beyond the call of duty.
Primary Responsibilities of the Sales and Marketing Manager - The Sales and Marketing Manager will hire, train, and lead a team to develop a sales and marketing platform and strategy that aligns with company targets and objectives.
- Will develops business plans and strategies and cultivate high growth partnerships with restaurant groups, distributors, retail, food service and processors that lead to profitable growth.
- Maximizes sales volume and gross profit. Works with Plant Manager in pricing and inventory matters to include dynamic pricing and sales collateral.
- Leverages fact-based analysis to manage the business through appropriate forecasting and achieving sales goals via wholesale and retail channels. Establishes measurements and goals for an ambitious go-to-market strategy, supported by a comprehensive, analytically grounded sales approach.
- Puts in place business evaluation measures, using both quantitative and qualitative data, to assess business performance, competitive trends, and new opportunities. Consistently monitors the strategy for maximizing margins while ensuring sales goals do not over or under perform plant capacity.
- Stays abreast of competitive actions, trends and emerging marketplace needs.
- Develops and manages annual sales forecast by customer and provides leadership with regular updates on results, challenges, opportunities, and competitive actions on an agreed upon cadence and in an agreed upon format.
- Responsible for the plant’s retail store and having product available to supply local community needs.
- Has whole ownership for the selection, training, and career development of Retail and Sales/Marketing Staff. Takes whole ownership for team payroll, performance management, engagement, and employee relations actions.
- Ensures company objectives and strategies are clearly communicated throughout the team and to customers as measured by the appropriate listening tools.
- Creates an operating culture where individuals are motivated, have clear direction, and opportunity for success and are regularly provided constructive assessment on performance.
- Works with the Plant Manager in developing forecast models that help to ensure a balance between production, inventories, and sales to ensure proper order fulfillment and assist in planning for new business.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate person.
Day-to-day Responsibilities Education/License/Certification and Experience Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Advertising, Marketing, or Business Administration preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years of recent and progressively responsible sales experience in food service, manufacturing, or distributor sales required. At least three years must include outside sales generating leads and driving the top line.
- Minimum of three (3) years of management or supervisory experience leading employees, creating/managing budgets, including but not limited to: creating product awareness campaigns, creating, and delivering tope line sales strategies and goals, creating relevant metrics and reporting, budget modifications, performance management, payroll management, employee development required.
Skills Required - Demonstrated strong leadership skills and the ability to approach business with a creative point of view.
- Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to influence and effectively communicate with both line level and management staff.
- Proven success driving sales and product awareness for both business to business (B2B) and business to consumer (B2C) models.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge on Beef primal cut names and utilization.
- Self-motivated yet customer obsessed.
- Proficient in competitor/market research and statistical analysis.
- Familiar with financial planning and strategy.
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment where change and growth are part of the culture.
- Ability to influence and drive culture, develop, and hold teams accountable. A team player in a highly collaborative culture.

- Must have a working knowledge of computers with the ability to work in a Windows environment with various software programs such as Word, Excel, etc.
Additional Requirements - Ability to work odd and irregular hours, as needed.
- Must successfully pass the required criminal and character background check.
- Must possess a valid state driver’s license and insurable driving record according to Tribal insurance guidelines.
- Ability to travel and participate in required training, leadership development, and other events.
- Ability to perform all duties and responsibilities of this position adequately and successfully.
