Position: Exceptional Student Education Specialist

Compensation Rate: Pays up to $50

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Understands central concepts, tools of inquiry, and structure of learning and how to support exceptional students and their families.
• Develops a climate and culture of openness, fairness, mutual respect, support and inquiry.
• Listens and interacts effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and community members, respecting diverse perspectives.
• Demonstrates respect for students, colleagues, administrators, and parents.
• Works effectively with school colleagues, parents, and the community to support students’ learning and well-being.
• Adheres to all Special Education laws and is able to coordinate meetings with district and school personnel to address exceptional student learning needs, goals and objectives.
• Provides positive and constructive feedback to students and is able to monitor and measure student growth as outlined in IEP.
• Writes and updates IEP and 504 accommodation plans based on student learning goals and objectives.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree from a fully accredited college or university is required.
• Possession of, or eligibility in Exceptional Student Education (ESE) license and/or a Florida teaching certificate. Master’s degree, ESOL and Gifted endorsement preferred.
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills and the ability to deal effectively in a diverse environment.
• Demonstrated organizational and managerial abilities.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to use sound judgment to solve problems and make decisions independently.

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift

Ability to commute/relocate:

• Miami Shores, FL 33168: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Education:

• Bachelor's (Required)

License/Certification:

• FLDOE Teacher Certification (Required)
