I.K. Hofmann USA has an amazing opportunity Dispatcher agent in the Chicago, IL area working near the Chicago Airport working in the office for a large transport company that provides a full array of road feeder services to international air carriers and their customers.
Truck Dispatcher Duties & Responsibilities
Truck dispatchers have numerous other responsibilities as well.
They can vary slightly from company to company.
Keep records, monitor drivers' daily logs for errors or violations, and monitor their working hours and equipment availability.
Keep tabs on the weather at all drivers' locations to be able to flag potential issues, typically with the aid of numerous computer programs.
Serve as a reliable point of contact to balance drivers' health and safety with customer requirements.
Coordinate and manage the most efficient loads to remain cost-effective as a company, combining shipments based on their routes and timeline to minimize how many trucks and drivers are out.
Determine the best delivery methods and negotiate rates directly with vendors and customers, and get the necessary documents and permits that drivers will need when shipping chemicals or livestock.
Education: High school diploma or GED, associate or bachelor's degree is sometimes preferred. A degree in transportation, supply chain management, or logistics is preferred.
Experience: One to three years of related experience, such as in customer service or courier, can sometimes serve instead of trucking experience. Prior trucking experience is often preferred, such as knowledge of driving and Department of Transportation rules and regulations
Minimal essential functions:
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access invoices, office machinery, etc.
The position requires constantly operating a computer and other office productivity machinery such as a computer, calculator, copier, and printer.
Work Environment:
Office Setting - Working with others
Occasionally work in extremely bright or dim lighting conditions.
Shift hours:
Monday to Sunday 8 am to 430 pm; 2 pm to 10 pm; 10 pm to 7 am
On-the-job training is required that will require different working hours to train with different staff in the office. Once trained this person will work remotely from home for 3rd shift hours 10 pm to 7 am.
