Informatics and Data Analyst (MA3) Workforce Pathways Professional 

Management Analyst 3 (MA3)

 

This is a home-based, full-time, project role anticipated to last 18 months from the start date or May 30, 2026, at the latest.

The Workforce Pathways Program is part of the Office of Public Affairs & Equity and is designed to provide mentorship, internships, and professional development opportunities to individuals historically excluded from public health careers. Through this program, we aim to build a public health workforce reflective of Washington's diverse populations.

 

About the Role

As a Workforce Pathways Professional, you will be placed within the Environmental Public Health (EPH) Office of the Assistant Secretary (OAS) to support the EPH Informatics, Data, Education & Analytics (IDEA) program. Your work will focus on two critical initiatives:

  • Conducting a Current State Data Assessment to evaluate data management systems, data quality, and staff capabilities.
  • Performing a Data Inventory and Catalog Audit to ensure data systems are accurate, accessible, and well-organized.

 

You will integrate data equity principles into your work to promote fair and inclusive data practices, aligning with broader data modernization efforts and fostering collaboration across EPH programs.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess existing data management systems and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Catalog and audit current data systems for accuracy and accessibility.
  • Collaborate with staff to enhance data capabilities and address equity gaps.
  • Support data modernization efforts to improve efficiency and collaboration.

Location and Flexibility 

We value work-life balance and offer the convenience of remote work with occasional in-person collaboration opportunities. Attending events or working In-office is rarely required and would be scheduled in advance. This is a remote/home-based position available to applicants residing anywhere in Washington State, as well as those living near the Oregon/Washington border and the Idaho/Washington border. 

Required Qualifications (you must meet ONE of the provided options and any additional criteria listed.)

Experience defined below may have been gained through paid or unpaid activities. Please ensure any relevant experience defined below is outlined in your cover letter, resume, and/or applicant profile.  

 

Three (3) years of experience in the following areas:

  • Demonstrated understanding of data literacy, data lifecycle and promoting data culture
  • Experience developing survey questions, performing modernized data collection, cleaning and preprocessing, analysis and data visualization. 
  • Experience performing informatics and data assessments for programs including evaluating needs for improvement

AND 

Two (2) years of experience in the following:

  • Demonstrated experience  planning and organizing work into a sequence of action steps, and timelines, and evaluating progress to achieve a goal.  
  • Experience collaborating, communicating (verbally and/or in writing) and engaging with diverse audiences, vulnerable populations or marginalized communities or Tribal communities and/or experience centering equity in program design and implementation.

 

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Cataloging dataset and/or data assets
  • Coding in R programming and/or Python
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 applications such as Forms, SharePoint, PowerApps, Power Automate
  • Experience in or knowledge of User Experience (UX)/Human Centered design
  • Project management or program management
  • Knowledge of data privacy and security and legal and ethical issues regarding and use of data (confidentiality)
