Job Summary — The Locksmith will be responsible for providing locksmith services, as well as customer service and product sales to walk-in customers.  Typical schedule is Monday-Friday, 8am to 5pm with a 1-hour lunch break.


Key Responsibilities:
Primary Responsibilities and Duties :
  • Create, use, and maintain key systems, including but not limited to grand master key systems, master key systems, and high security.
  • Troubleshoot cores and locksets.
  • Maintain appropriate files, records and follow manufacturer security protocols.
  • Key duplication and key cutting by key codes and key machines.
  • Lock repairs, troubleshooting, and installation.
  • Work with all appropriate personnel in all departments to ensure material is ready for delivery, and / or installed correctly and in a timely manner.
  • Assist customers who call or come into the front counter.
  • Trouble shoot commercial door hardware problems in the field.
  • Adhere to all CIH core values.
  • Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.
Primary Competencies :
  • Strong customer relation skills
  • Proficient computer skills; including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Working knowledge of Door Hardware and Locks
  • Locksmith/pinning experience, technician experience
  • Experience with access control is beneficial, but not required
  • Detail Oriented
Physical Demands :
  • Sit for long periods
  • Ability to kneel, crouch and stoop.
  • Repetitive use of hands and fingers to grasp, twist and pull
  • Long periods of computer usage / monitor viewing
  • Ability to listen and talk to customers/ suppliers
  • Ability to reach above your head and shoulders
  • Ability to climb ladders
  • Regularly lift or move up to 40 pounds
  • Withstand external weather conditions
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with the commercial door & hardware industry, required
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
  • Must have a valid drivers license and be approved to drive by our insurance carrier.
