Ida Lewis Yacht Club in Newport, RI is looking for a Chef to join our team for the 2024 club season May- Oct. We are located at 170 Wellington Ave, Newport, RI. Our ideal candidate is self-driven, punctual, and hard-working. Compensation based on experience and ability.

Not your average kitchen! Ida Lewis Yacht Club is located in Newport harbor (google map location). Come grill and cook outside under a tent while watching boats sail by. No two days are the same and not the drudgery of a hot downtown kitchen, the shifts are over early, and we offer a fairly flexible schedule.

Responsibilities

Ordering and inventory management

• Oversee food safety handling and sanitation practices for galley staff
• Plan and delegate food preparation and cooking tasks to the galley team
• Train and develop cooks as needed

Qualifications

• Strong attention to detail with exceptional organizational skills
• Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate the team
• Relevant food safety and handling certificate
• Experience as a chef is a plus

Schedule

• IMPORTANT - This is a seasonal position. Galley operations run full time End of May through Mid-September , with occasional special events in May and October.
• The weekly schedule is as follows: Tuesday Family Grill Night, Wednesday Racing Grill Night, Friday Adult Grill Night, Saturday Grill Night, Sunday Brunch. Mondays and Thursdays are typically off.
