As we continue to expand, we're looking for a strategic and experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our team and lead our financial operations.
Position Overview
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will be a vital part of the executive team, responsible for the gallery's overall financial management and strategic planning. This individual will drive financial stability and support our mission and growth goals. Based in New York City, NY, or Beverly Hills, CA, the role is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in finance, accounting, and strategic leadership who also has experience in the luxury space and a deep appreciation for the arts.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement robust financial strategies that align with our mission and growth objectives.
Partner with the executive team to create long-term financial plans and budgets.
Analyze financial data to generate insights and make strategic recommendations.
Financial Management
Oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of financial statements and other reports.
Manage cash flow, investments, and financial risk to sustain the gallery's financial health.
Compliance & Governance
Maintain compliance with all financial regulations, laws, and accounting standards.
Oversee audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting processes.
Implement internal controls and financial policies to safeguard assets and strengthen governance.
Fundraising & Revenue Generation
Support fundraising efforts and grant applications with financial insights and projections.
Develop strategies for revenue growth, including partnerships, sponsorships, and additional income streams.
Monitor and report on the financial performance of fundraising and revenue activities.
Team Leadership
Lead and mentor the finance team, promoting a collaborative, high-performance culture.
Oversee recruitment, training, and performance management within the finance department.
Provide guidance to other departments on financial matters to support organizational goals.
Financial Systems & Processes
Assess and enhance financial systems and processes to improve efficiency.
Implement and maintain financial software and tools for streamlined operations and reporting.
Ensure accurate documentation and record-keeping for all financial transactions.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's degree or CPA preferred).
Demonstrated experience as a CFO, Finance Director, or similar senior finance role, ideally within the arts or luxury space (gallery experience not required).
Knowledge of tax laws, shipping regulations, consignment handling, international tax, and imports.
Strong strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent leadership and communication abilities, with a knack for collaborating across diverse teams.
