Business Service Representative
The Business Services Representative (BSR) establishes linkages with employers and local
businesses, markets the Center services to employers to create job opportunities and job
placements for Center participants.
The Business Services Representative will conduct and manage employer outreach activities designed to
connect employers with job seekers for employment opportunities. The BSR will promote the resources
and services of Workforce Solutions to employers. The BSR will be responsible for assisting employers
place job postings in Work In Texas (WIT) state database of job seekers and recruit qualified candidates
from WIT. The BSR will work in a professional and respectful manner with all partners and stakeholder who
they serve and seek support.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Adheres to the mission of SERCO.
2. Serves as the liaison between employers and the SERCO-operated Workforce Centers.
3. Promotes the services of the Center to local employers in need of hiring qualified employees.
4. Identifies and may prepare reports to supervisor on areas that may need intervention.
5. Consults with area chambers of commerce, higher education institutions, and all local employers
regarding economic and employment trends.
6. Responsible for the coordination, development, recruitment, maintenance, and outreach
activities to prospective employers.
7. Conducts outreach and job search workshops for customers and community civic groups.
8. Coordinates job fairs, hiring events and other employer related events for all workforce areas.
9. Reviews database information to expand employment opportunities available to job-ready
customers.
10. Works with case managers to facilitate the identification of mentors or job coaches for hard-toserve clients.
11. Performs other related work as assigned.
12. Ensures all work orders are entered into the system properly and conducts follow-ups on all
open orders.
DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License and provide automobile liability insurance as
required by the State of Texas.
Must have access to reliable transportation in order to travel within the service area.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
1. Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Business Management, Public
Administration, Economics Communication, Social Science, or related field preferred from a
recognized 4-year college or university; Or
2. Two (2) years related experience in providing business services within the workforce
system, outside sales, cold calls experience can be substituted for education.
3. Experience with interviewing employers to assess and to record information regarding
training needs, education needs, employment needs, and labor market trends to fully
explore career development opportunities for customers.
4. Experience in customer job placement, and job retention.
5. Must have strong writing skills.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Must possess and provide a valid Texas Driver's License and Automobile Liability
Insurance as required by the State of Texas.

1. Physical Demands: While performing duties of the job, employee is occasionally required to stand;
walk; sit; for long periods of time. Employee must be able to drive for extended periods of time. Employees
must occasionally lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, must be able to set up display area.
2. Work Environment: Fast paced, demanding physically and mentally, will be in constant
communications.
