Job Description

Stanford University is seeking a Biostatistician 1 to work closely with senior statistician(s) to manage relevant databases as necessary, design studies, devise analysis plan, create analytic files, implement analysis plan and report and publish findings.

 

The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Neonatal and Developmental Medicine aims to provide optimum state-of-the-art care for critically ill and recovering neonates and infants.We are dedicated to the School of Medicine’s mission of advancing and exploring innovative and novel biomedical, translational, and clinical research and education through the nurturing stimulation of interactions among basic and clinical scientists, clinicians, and educators throughout the School of Medicine and University, as well as with the private and public sectors.Through our integrated research, education, patient, and community outreach programs, we are committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic medicine and patient care.A component of the Division’s research is focused on Epidemiology.

 

The ProfitLab uses a transdisciplinary team science to optimize health care delivery for sick neonates and their families.The lab has interest in facilitating this goal at the level of the healthcare system, as well as the level of individual care delivery facilities.A key strength of our lab is access to California Perinatal Quality Care Collaborative (CPQCC) resources. CPQCC facilitates quality improvement activities across the state, via audit and feedback of clinical and operational data and via active quality improvement collaborative programs centered around clinical improvement aims.Nearly all neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) in California are members of the CPQCC.Uniquely, CPQCC data are linked to a variety of data sources, which allow for investigation of maternal health, socio-demographic background, infant inter-hospital transfer, and long-term infant follow up.

 

The ProfitLab’s current research projects addresses the health care delivery system at the hospital level with focus on the optimization of care delivery to mothers and sick newborns and included health system design, care culture and provider well-being, health equity, and family centered care.

 

We are seeking a full-time (1.0 FTE) Biostatistician to perform work to support the multiple research studies in the Profit Lab.

 

Duties include:

 

·Design study.

·Implement protocol for quality control.

·Create analytic files with detailed documentation.

·Implement data analysis through statistical programming.

·Present results for investigators using graphs and tables.

·Summarize findings orally and in written form.

·Participate in the preparation of papers for publication.

Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the University reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs. The pay range for this position working in the California Bay area is between $69,100 to $94,733 based on commensurate experience and background.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):

 

Master's degree in biostatistics, statistics or related field.

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):

·Proficient in at least two of R, SAS, SPSS, or STATA.

·Skills in descriptive analysis, modeling of data, and graphic interfaces.

·Outstanding ability to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
