This position will be hybrid. We do like to collaborate at our Operations Center in West Valley City sometimes, so living close enough to be able to do so will be necessary.

Summary: The Asset Liability Management (ALM)/Financial Analyst is responsible for the creation, modification, and analysis of long-term reporting solutions as well as specific, one-time requests to help the credit union identify areas where revisions are needed for current processes. This individual will monitor and analyze balance sheets, identify and manage interest rate risk and liquidity risk by assessing asset and liability structures, and help to develop strategies for optimizing profitability while adhering to regulatory requirements. Key duties include data analysis, financial modeling, stress testing, and providing insights to senior management to inform strategic decisions regarding ALM.

Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Gather and analyze data on interest rates, deposit trends, loan portfolios, market conditions, and balance sheet trends to assess the impact on the balance sheet.
  • Analyze company financial statements as well as industry, regulatory, and economic information.
  • Query large data sets from multiple sources and develop dashboards, charts, and graphs to illustrate various reports.
  • Collaborate with senior management to develop and implement ALM strategies which optimize the credit union’s balance sheet and profitability, while managing risks.
  • Identify and quantify interest rate risk and liquidity risk exposures across the balance sheet, including stress testing scenarios to assess potential impacts.
  • Develop and maintain complex financial models to forecast future financial performance, including net interest income (NII) projections under various market scenarios.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements related to ALM, including reporting to relevant authorities.
  • Monitor and analyze funding sources and liquidity positions to maintain adequate liquidity levels.
  • Track key ALM metrics and provide regular reports to management on the effectiveness of ALM strategies.
  • Support product pricing decisions by evaluating the impact of new products on the balance sheet and risk profile. Perform cost analysis of credit union products, services, programs, and departments presently in place and proposed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in Finance
  • 2-5 years of similar or related experience required
  • Graduate degree in Business or Information Technology is a plus and may be considered in place of related experience
  • Intermediate to advanced experience writing SQL queries, including complex joins, sub queries, and complex calculations
  • Experience running statistical analysis; proficiency in data analysis and statistical techniques
  • Full working knowledge of financial statements and basic accounting principles and theory preferred
  • Strong understanding of financial principles, including interest rate theory, balance sheet management, and financial modeling
  • Knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements related to ALM
